Adding "Optional Attributes for Children" to the "Add Person" prompt in Check-In

We are just getting started with Rock so any advice here would be very helpful. I've searched the existing Q&A and didn't see this and asked Chip about four different ways and didn't get anywhere. (Chip has been super useful in figuring out most of my basic questions to this point as have the previous Q&A posts.)


I am having trouble adding "Ability Level" and "Allergy" to the "Add Person" prompt in the "Add a New Family" --> "Add Person" prompt in Check-In. After changing the following settings I don't see the optional attributes appear on the "Add Person" screen. I'm guessing there is a step I missed somewhere along the way.


I went to... Admin Tools-->Check-In-->Check-In Configuration.

Selected the applicable Check-In Configuration.

Under "Registration Settings" I added "Ability Level" and "Allergy" in the "Optional Attributes for Children" box and saved the settings.

After it didn't work the first time I cleared the cache with no luck.


This is for use at a manned guest check-in station that is using the "CheckinBlueCrystal" theme. Not sure if that makes any difference.


While I was troubleshooting I did turn on the "Display Alternate ID Field for Children" and it showed up in the "Add Person" prompt. I also tried two or three different check-in themes to see if the issue was theme related and that didn't change anything.

    As it turns out you also have to grant the check-in user the security authorization for the field.

    (I hope this reads as me feeling silly for not thinking of that before I posted a question.)


    Maybe this will help someone else who is new and or having trouble remembering.
